Dear Customers,

We are following up on our Monday newsletter, in which we informed you about the unfortunate situation in the weather-affected railway transport. Unfortunately, present we gotta grow our study on weather conditions.

Northern corridor

  • The situation in Hamburg remains poor. The HPA is only accepting trains upon approval and in minimal numbers. Due to adverse weather conditions, handling at all port terminals is very slow, which prevents us from gathering our regular schedules and the number of undelivered trains is expanding all day. Further unfavourable weather is expected in Hamburg, and from Friday to Sunday there will besides be a full closure in the Elbe Valley. For these reasons, we are forced to importantly reduce further loadings in the direction from/to Hamburg.
  • The Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven services are presently operating without any major problems.
  • Benelux is besides struggling with the effects of severe weather in the form of freezing temperatures and dense snowfall. Terminals in Rotterdam and Antwerp are suspending operations respective times a day. The full rail network in the Netherlands is facing crucial complications. Infrastructure manager ProRail is continuously issuing restrictions, and RSC terminal is presently inaccessible by rail. DIT Duisburg terminal is besides experiencing problems due to bad weather. There may be crucial delays to trains and individual shipments.

Southern corridor

Due to snowfall last night, there are crucial problems with rail transport in Slovenia, Hungary, and the border areas between Croatia and Hungary and Serbia and Hungary. For this reason, delays are to be expected.

The full operational situation besides has a negative impact on the smooth moving of home terminals.

We apologise for these complications, which are beyond METRANS’ control. Our client Service squad will answer any questions you may have regarding circumstantial shipments.
